HealthTrust Purchasing Group (HPG) is a Group Purchasing Organization located in Brentwood, Tennessee, with no other lines of business. HPG is a limited partnership owned by five for-profit healthcare companies and one group purchasing organization which is made up primarily of not-for-profit healthcare companies: HCA, Community Health Systems, Health Management Associates, Universal Hospital Systems, LifePoint Hospitals, and Consorta.
HPG supports approximately 20,000 member locations in 2009 including approximately 1,400 acute care hospitals. 650 ambulatory surgery centers and over 5,000 alternate care sites (physician clinics, psychiatric, etc.) located in almost every state of the nation. Annual purchasing volume approaches $15 billion.
